Montague Street Garden FAQs

Expand all questions
  1. I'm interested in using Montague Street Garden for my event. What should I do next?
Call The Bedford Estates and we'll assist you with your enquiry and check availability of dates. We will require some basic details and the purpose of your event so as to ascertain the suitability of Montague Street Garden for your needs.
  2. Are there any restrictions on use of the garden?

The Montague Street Garden is privately owned, and we therefore hope to offer more flexibility than other gardens. However, the main issues that may affect your plans are: - The curfew for all events is 10p.m; - No amplified sound or music is allowed within the garden; - No vehicles are allowed into the garden, except for deliveries; - The maximum capacity is 300 guests. Please see the Garden Events booklet for a full list of restrictions.

  3. Does The Estate provide marquees and toilet facilities?
The Estate provides the space, power and water. But nothing else. You will need to arrange for the supply of any equipment and/or structures for your event.
  4. Is there power and water?
There is water, but no power.
  5. Do we have to use your preferred suppliers?

No. You are free to use your own suppliers (subject to the provision of suitable references). We can provide you with details of events organisers who have used the garden before, and therefore have a good working knowledge of the space.

  6. Can we serve alcohol in the garden?
Montague Street Garden is a private garden and therefore does not require special licensing for the serving of food or alcoholic beverages to invited guests. This garden is not suitable for events where the sale of alcohol is proposed.
  7. How secure is the garden?
The garden is kept locked at all times. There is no access to the general public. However, any valuable equipment left in the garden over night, would be at your own risk.
